WWTP - Waste Water Technology Platform

IWWTP Portal Launched

Overview

On the topic of industrial wastewater management, industries often ask for information on available technologies, case examples and best practices so that they can look for solutions for problems related to wastewater problems in their companies.

There is a need for a technology platform from where information can be obtained by the industries and support obtained if needed for additional information such as suppliers/manufacturers of equipment, B2B meetings, site visits etc. Different forms of Technology exist today such as UNIDO’s Sustainable Technology Promotion Platform1

(STePP), European Technology Platform2 etc. Also, in Germany and Europe, Best Available Techniques Reference Documents exist, which can be used by public agencies as well as private sector (ref. https://eippcb.jrc.ec.europa.eu/reference/). However, there is a need for a customised Wastewater Technology Platform to support industries in providing with relevant information and support.

As part of SEIP II project, GIZ contracted GeoStone Corpration for developing, hosting and operating the envisioned Industrial Wastewater Technology Platform.

Objective of the project

The objective of this project is to set up an Industrial Wastewater Technology Platform for making available relevant information on industrial wastewater management including conveyance systems, wastewater treatment, recycle/reuse, monitoring etc. to all the relevant stakeholders and to provide services such as information exchange between German companies and the Indian company seeking information, facilitating B2B meetings, facilitating site visits etc.

Status of the project

A series of stakeholders’ consultations have been completed so far ranging from one-to-one meetings, focused group discussions, 3 Webinars and 1 workshop. Stakeholders comments/suggestions have been seriously noted and incorporated in building the portal. The portal was hosted at temporary location and has been launched at wwtp.in domain. The portal, being dynamic by design, will be continuously developed in close consultation with stakeholders

The IWWTP has also started delivery of services ( limited services in compliance of present COVID-19 guidelines) and benefitting stakeholders are not only from India and Germany but from other countries also.
